Danica Ćurčić was born in Belgrade, Serbia on August 27, 1985. At the time she was born, Serbia was still part of Yugoslavia, a socialist country. At the age of one, Danica moved to Copenhagen, Denmark with her family where her father, Mihajlo Ćurčić, worked for the Yugoslavian Embassy. Her mother’s name is Vesna Bjelica Ćurčić and her brother is Ognjen Ćurčić.

Danica attended Sankt Annæ Gymnasium and went to college at the University of Copenhagen, where she got her bachelor’s degree in film and media science. She also spent a year taking acting classes at the Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre, in Blue Lake, Northern California. On 2008 she started attending the Danish National School of Theatre and Contemporary Dance, from where she graduated in 2012.

Danica’s debut was on one episode of the TV Series Those Who Kill, when she played Margaretha in 2011. On the following year, she made her film debut on Over the Edge as Veronika. She wasn’t very popular at first, but would work hard to be on successful films.

In 2014, Danica starred a very succesful film – Silent Heart, which gave her a Bodil Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. She was also nominated a Bodil Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for The Absent One.

In 2016, Danica took part on the successful Norwegian TV Series Nobel as Adella Hanefi. In 2017, she appeared on the American TV Series The Mist, based on the horror novella of the same name by author Stephen King. Unlike Nobel, The Mist wasn’t well-received by the public and ended up getting cancelled by the end of season 1.

In the context of the refugee crisis in 2015, along with Christian Gade Bjerrum, she arranged a major gathering show at the Betty Nansen Theater in Copenhagen, which collected over $80,000 for the Red Barn Children’s Disaster Fund.

Danica is very active on the theater. She has participated in several theatrical performances at The Royal Theater. On her latest, she lead the role of Jeanne D’Arc on a play with the same name at the Republique Theatre between March and April 2018.

Besides being a talented actress, Danica also plays the piano and harmonics; speaks Danish, Serbian, English, Spanish and has some knowledge of Russian and French. She also sings, her voice is mezzosopran/alto, however in Romeo & Juliet, a play she performed at The Royal Theater, she also managed to take the Chandelier’s high tones.

Danica is actually a tall woman: she is 5’10” (179 cm). Her hair is dark brown and her eyes are dark brown.
